Public Meeting on Crime in the Fingal Area
20:00
City North Hotel
Both the Irish Farmers Association and Fingal Farmers are holding a public meeting , at the request of their concerned members, on Friday 1st March at 8pm to 10pm in the City North Hotel on Policing and Crime matters in the Fingal Area. We are inviting the senior Garda Officers from Balbriggan, Blanchardstown, Ballymun, Finglas, Swords, Coolock and Ashbourne, local area public representatives, Fingal County Council Officers, National Parks and Wildlife Service representatives, Dog Warden Service and members of the media.
The Deputy President of the IFA Alice Doyle will also attend and Barry Carey (IFA) will Chair/ Moderate this meeting. I would like to assure all that this is not an event where members of the public can vent at An Garda Siochana or criticise individual members or politicians. We are requesting all questions to be sent to us prior to the night so it will be very much a controlled meeting.
We would like to highlight the current issues in the various districts and seek the support of the various agencies in a coordinated approach to dealing with these ongoing/ persistent problems.
Illegal Hunting with Dogs
Trespass
Thefts of tools and equipment
Criminal Damage to Farms and Lands
Fly-tipping
Bogus Traders and Callers
Drugs
Intimidation
Garda Response times and prosecution of offenders
A very successful Garda operation was put in place in the Tipperary Area in December 2022 after the serious assault on a farmer. Subsequently ‘Operation Rototiller’ was launched and is still in place and has been a huge success. We would like to see the implementation of this style of Garda operation fully resourced and launched in the Fingal Area.
